The film competition is open to young filmmakers between the ages of 9 - 16. No prior film experience is required, just imagination, creativity and brains…. Muhaaha.. brains!!!!!!! Limited seats are available every weekend during the month of October. The live, red carpet film festival will take place on line on November 2, 2024.

Screams in a Box is a thrilling collaboration between Film Camp in a Box and The George A. Romero Foundation. This year's film competition will engage and excite your young filmmakers' senses and promote an important media literacy skillset in the scary movie making genre.
Screams in a Box is delivered directly to your front door and includes a fully loaded “haunted” Mac Book, HD camera, tripod, boom mike, green screen and a surprisingly “terrifying” movie prop that will be used in the production of your short film. You and your film crew will have upto 72 hours to create a script, film and edit your movie, before we pick up the equipment on monday. Your movie will be automatically entered into The Screams in a Box movie competiion and you will be given a QR coded commemorative t-shirt, some GARF swag and of course some popcorn to enjoy the films. The entrance fee, including equipment rental, drop off and pick up and live mentoring is $85.00 /
unit.Your box registration fee includes up to 4 hours of on demand, live synchronous mentoring from a master filmmaker to engage your young filmmaker in story development, cinematography and shooting / editing techniques.
Films will be judged by industry leading ‘A’ list horror movie directors and celebrated at our live, red carpet virtual film festival, with the top 3 films being shown at The Bram Stoker International Film Festival. Awesome prizes and honourable mentions will be awarded at our virtual festival on November 2, 2024. Our box is inclusive of the box, delivery and pick up, mentoring and commemorative t-shirt. Zombies, Ghosts and goblins are extra.
Workshop dates are October 7 - 9, 14 - 16, 21 -23. We also offer in person workshops through the City of Vaugahn , Richmond Hill Public Library, City of West Vancouver and The JCC Vancouver.
